Home Automation
Home Automation: The
term “home automation” usually conjures up images of the Jetsons and arobot named “Rosie”. In reality, home automation is the only way to
design a home for the 21st century. If you want to watch a movie, do
you want to fumble your way through eight different remote controls or
would you prefer to press a single button on a single remote? When you
come home, wouldn’t it make sense to have the lights turn on
automatically as you enter a dark house? If you arm your security
system when you leave, wouldn’t it be nice if your heating system
turned itself down to save energy while you’re away? Shouldn’t the
lights your kids left on, the coffeemaker, and the curling iron all
turn off when you leave so you don’t have to think about it? Why do
you have to fumble for the light switch in the garage when you’re
carrying two bags of groceries? Why not have the garage lights turn on
automatically whenever someone’s there? How about simple, intuitive
touchscreens throughout the house that will each permit you to pick
your music, turn on the entertainment system, control the lighting
scenes, arm the security system, check on the baby (nursery cam), check
your email, or turn up the thermostats? Once you’ve lived in a
professionally and properly integrated home, you’ll wonder how you ever
lived without home automation.
