What is a media center/media server? A Media Center is a custom-built PC that is designed to store, organize, and deliver your music, photographs, videos, movies, TV, and more. What about DVR or Tivo?
Are you using Tivo? Media Center works like a Tivo when you are watching TV. You can watch one show while you are recording another. You can pause live TV. You can record any show at the touch of a button without programming a start or stop time. In addition to managing your TV and storing your favorite TV shows, a media center can store your movies and photographs. You can play a slide show on your big screen, (with whatever background music you choose), of your recent vacation. You can watch your favorite movies without trying to find the DVD. You can pull up a library of your music collection that is organized by song title, artist, album title, or genre. Media centers work with cable TV, antenna, or satellite. Media centers are capable of displaying many videos and TV shows in high definition. Media centers also deliver Dolby Digital surround sound for a true theater experience.
Media Center in a Home Entertainment System
Media centers are typically hooked up to a nearby television and surround sound system. The interface on Media Centers is intuitive and simple to navigate. By using a total of just 6 buttons on your remote, you can access anything on your media center. When we integrate a media center, we typically tie it into the whole-house music system so that your music collection can be enjoyed throughout the house. We also add touchscreens in other locations of the home so that you can remotely select songs and playlists for the house music system. Many of our clients choose to integrate multiple media centers into their home so that they can be used independently. Even though they are independent, we make all of the media content centrally available to each of them so that the content is stored only once for the whole house. To protect your collection, we utilize hard drive storage with RAID 5 technology. This means that if a hard drive crashes or fails, none of your data is lost. The faulty hard drive is replaced and the data is restored from the remaining drives.
